Michelle Astuto Collins, expresses her diversity through the use of many different mediums including, but not limited to, acrylic, oil, watercolors, digital painting and sculpture. Collins works range in style from surrealism to whimsy.
Originally from Long Island New York she moved to New Port Richey, Florida at the age of fourteen. With no formal training she credits her artistic diversity to her upbringing in a large creative family with many different styles and interests.
Moving around a lot in her early years exposed her to constant changes in her surroundings which has influenced her work; with some works being simple, colorful and playful; others more intricate, seemingly darker and puzzling.
Michelle's works are in private collections throughout North America, Europe and Australia. Her work has also shown galleries and shows in Alaska, Florida, New York, Oregon & Virginia.

Thanks to all who attended our opening!
The show was a smashing success! The artwork was amazing, from the incredible bowing egret by photographer Cheryl Molennor to the beautiful acrylic works of Michelle Collins.
Cheryl Molennor amazingly captured the elegance of an egret in full plumage as he bows, proudly displaying his beauty. The gorgeous bird seems to come to life against the black background of the piece.
Michelle Collins, created an incredible collection of pieces featuring various Saints. The works are extremely detialed with the signature style of Michelle's acrylics in mosaic form. Each piece is beautifully presented in individually lit frames, hand crafted in fine woods by her husband, Cory Collins.
The gorgeous works of portrait artist Matthew Ellrod were beautifully displayed in a Victorian style dressing room where giclee prints by Paula Showen also hang.
C.W.Tanner's works of the underwater world and tropical paradise enhance the gallery collection in the "Tropical" room in the rear of the gallery. C.W. pulls from his experiences as a scuba diver. His work, "Peace in Mirre Bayou" contains a wonderful surprise!
Also on display is the beautiful musical instrument collection by Karren Tolliver, Nature photographer Erica Urbanovich shows incredible skill through her wild mushroom and dear fly works, The magnificent "old Florida" style paintings by Gladys DePrias, Pop art by Ralph Annon, Oils by Phil Reed, Terry Kinderman's mixed media pieces, Lloyd Johnson's fused glass and wood pieces, Maryangela Smith's fabulous oils, the zany and colorful works of Dawn Marmamaduke, acrylics by John and Frances Duhler, B.J. White-Myer's profound mixed media collages and the amazing sculpture by Sergio Flores.
All works of the members on display are not to be missed! Each piece is worth experiencing! If you attended the opening, the gallery director, Nancy Ciesla, would like to personally thank you for supporting the gallery and our local artists. If you were not able to attend, you won't want to miss this spectacular show!
The show will be on display through July. Please stop in!

16"x16" Acrylic Painting

The wood container was hand crafted by my husband and hand painted by me. It is "ONE PIECE". Image shows all 4 sides of the piece. The main artwork on the front of the piece is a reproduction of one of my older pieces titled "Spring". It is mounted and sealed along with the rest of the hand painted piece. Was created for holding kitchen utensils but can be used to hold other items as well.

Hand Painted Coffee Tin

This wood spoon rest was hand crafted by my husband and hand painted by me.

I have been hard at work this winter. Working on a project I have had in mind for years in collaborated with 2 other artists: Paula Showen & Margaret McKeehan (my mother).
We have begun offering our works on tile murals for backsplashes and other tile work projects. We will be adding to the art selections along with the surfaces that will be available so keep checking in.
You can view our current selection at www.thetilegallery.org.
On another note I will be Downtown for the Gala tomorrow! I will have some samples of the tiles and other artwork during the art stroll. You can check out my calendar on my website for other up coming shows www.artbymichellecollins.com .
Looking forward to SPRING!
Best wishes,
Michelle
